It’s a thing to bring your water bottle with you everywhere. Most of us do it. Usually it’s the huge cups that will keep you hydrated all day, but when you’re traveling that’s just not realistic. That’s why you need to buy the Hydaway collapsible bottle for your next vacation. I’m filling you in on everything you need to know in this honest review of the Hydaway water bottle.

You can trust my review on this travel water bottle because I travel constantly and am always bringing a water bottle along on my adventures. I have tried many different styles of water bottles over the years and found what works best for different situations.

I’ve also tried this Hydaway collapsible water bottle for myself. I’ve taken it with me on adventures and have seen what it can (and can’t do). I’m here to tell you all you need to know before making a purchase.

And also? I’m a fish, I drink SO much water. I don’t drink soft drinks at all, so I drink a ton of water throughout each day. When I’m traveling and am outside and walking so much more than normal? I drink that much more water. So I really know what I’m talking about.

Introducing, the Hydaway Collapsible Water Bottle

I had been eyeing the Hydaway Collapsible Water Bottle for a long time but hadn’t made the plunge. I kept trying the cheap amazon brands of collapsible bottles, and many different large clunky bottles for trips. But I knew the Hydaway was higher quality and more durable for traveling, plus collapses SO small to take up virtually no space in your luggage.

So I finally did it, I got the Hydaway bottle and I’m ready to share all my thoughts with you about whether I think you should invest the money too!

Who this Review is for:

While you could absolutely use this bottle all day every day, this review is really for people who travel. Honestly anyone who travels at all, no matter where you go or how often. Especially people who are taking a long European vacation or the outdoorsy hiking type. (It’s a must-have on my The Only Italy Packing List You Need for an Italian Vacation)

What Is the Hydaway Collapsible Water Bottle?

The Hideaway collapsible water bottle is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a silicone water bottle that collapses down to be just about an inch thick taking up virtually no space in your bag or pocket. The design is obviously with the intent of saving space but it’s also a great way to stay more hydrated than you normally would while also being environmentally friendly and not wasting a bunch of plastic water bottles.

Key Features & Specs

The bottles are sold in two different sizes, 17 oz and 25 oz. They also sell cups and bowls which are great and have wonderful uses but that’s not what this review is for.

The bottles are made of BPA free plastic for the mouthpiece and silicone for the rest of the bottle. making them perfectly safe for your drinks. The lid has a fold down handle (which is great to add a clip to be able to clip it onto any bag or belt loop) and a leak proof design. It’s also top rack dishwasher safe which makes it that much more desirable, and is also super easy to quickly hand wash on the go in something like a hotel sink.

But obviously the key feature to The Hideaway bottle is its collapsing function. It really does fold down to just over an inch thick and a few inches wide. 

Why a Collapsible Water Bottle Is a Travel Essential

I take my travel gear very seriously and I’m constantly looking for ways to upgrade my items because I travel so often and the right gear can make traveling so much easier and more convenient. and that’s why I truly believe that this Hideaway collapsible bottle is essential for traveling. It allows you to walk around all day long in a new city with just a small purse and still have a water bottle to be able to stay hydrated along the way.

I usually start out the day with a full bottle, drink it fairly quickly and then slip the folded up bottle down into my purse or pocket.  Then throughout the day I can open it back up, fill it up at the nearest water fountain and stay hydrated all day long without having to lug around a huge heavy bottle that doesn’t fit in my bag.

My Honest Experience Using the Hydaway Bottle

Overall, I LOVE this water bottle. As someone who travels often, this is exactly what I was looking for. I use it on almost all of my trips now and it comes in so handy.

I especially love it on sightseeing days in a city. When I’m going to be out exploring all day long and will not be carrying much with me, just a small crossbody purse. This allows me to have water throughout the day without carrying a heavy water bottle the whole time.

If I am hiking and have a backpack, or am pushing my kids around in the stroller, it’s not quite as handy, since I’ll have a place to stash a regular bottle. That being said, I still choose to bring this over a regular bottle on those days since it’s so much lighter!

Another place I love it is Disney World. The lines can get pretty long and I don’t like taking a bottle with me in line. Instead I grab this and clip it to my pant loop or baby carrier and then we have easy access when myself or the kids get thirsty in the Florida heat! I fill it up at any restaurant we pass and keep going.

There is a slight learning curve for holding it, but once you learn the spots that are sturdy it’s no problem at all. You don’t have to worry about squeezing it and water getting everywhere.

I also was incredibly impressed by how easy it was to wash. I used my silicone bottle brush (which is also a must pack for travel!!), and it was clean in seconds. Be sure to let it dry completely before storing it, but if you’re going to use it just fill it back up with water after and you’re good to go. I personally would wash it at night in the hotel sink, let it air dry on the counter and grab it again in the morning.

And lastly, as I am a family travel blogger, traveling all over with two littles, it was super impressive to me how easy it was for my 2-year old to use! In fact, as soon as it came in the mail she stole it and insisted that it was her water bottle. She could use it just as easily as any of her other bottles and really liked how fun it was to collapse when she finished the water! How It Compares to Regular Water Bottles

It’s obvious that this product is very different from a regular water bottle. The Hydaway is made for saving space. It’s amazing to throw in a purse or pocket when you’re out and about throughout the day. Plus it’s super light, which is always a plus.

But compared to stainless steel that most people use these days, it’s not insulated and wont keep your water cold for super long like the others will. But that probably doesn’t even matter. The goal for the Hydaway is NOT to hold water allllll day long. If it was then why would you need it to collapse?

So just fill the bottle, drink the water, collapse it and do it all over again in a little while. Don’t worry about the water staying cold.

That being said, this bottle is 100% my choice whenever I am going to be walking around for long periods of time without somewhere to put a large water bottle. And for me that means when I’m traveling. I love it for days I’m exploring cities and going to Disney.

Tips for Using the Hydaway Bottle While Traveling

Be sure to fill it up whenever you see cold, fresh water. Think hotel lobbies, restaurants, or public water fountains. But of course, empty it out before going through security at the airport!

When it’s empty, I highly recommend using their travel case! It’s definitely not a necessity, but I love having a clean space for it to live in between uses so I can clip it onto my bag or baby carrier and not have to worry about it getting dirty.

At the end of the day, give it a quick wash with some dish soap and a bottle brush and let it air dry. Then be ready to go again in the morning!

Is the Hydaway Water Bottle Worth It? (Final Verdict)

100%, yes! I truly LOVE this product and cannot wait to keep using it on the rest of my travels. I’ll be buying it for all of my friends and family who love to travel and will definitely be buying more for my house.
